High Peaks Cat Shelter is equipped to help anyone in the community who has a need to trap either a feral (untamed, wild...not handleable by humans) cat that has become a concern to them, or just one of their own that has gotten loose, and is disoriented or ‘confused’ as to which way is home! We rent out our humane traps for $10.00, with a $50.00 returnable deposit fee. If you would like us to set the trap for you, we will do that, too.
We recommend that feral cats be trapped, spayed or neutered, tested for any communicable diseases, and given a three-year rabies vaccine. Once they have recuperated from surgery, they should be released back into their ‘territory’ to live out their lives without reproducing litters of kittens. If they are living close to your home, providing them with healthy, nutritious food and adequate water will help them to have a more comfortable life out in the wild.
